Photos from the workshop

On 5 December 2017, İstanbul Medeniyet University, Department of Information and Document Management students along with two of their professors, Prof. Dr. Bilgin Aydın and Assoc. Prof. Dr Didar Bayır, visited our center. We introcuded our center to our student friends and offered detailed information on the collections and our archive system. We shared information about the development of sorting and cataloging systems of private collections with the students through the examples of the Aptullah Kuran Collection, Aziz Ogan Collection and Scott Family Archive. We showed the different kinds of materials in these collections, related the process of how we classified and cataloged them, and answered the students' questions in this regard. We had conversations about the archive protection materials, their use and their acquisition. Then our center’s assistant coordinator, Dr. Nurçin İleri made a presentation introducing the establishment process of our archive center. This presentation was followed by a practical training titled "How to produce the metadata of a document" by one of our archive specialists Başak Deniz Özdoğan. During this training, a letter written by Cemal Süreya to Cahit Külebi was read and cataloged together with the students. At the end of the training, the students' questions were answered, and a certificate was distributed to the participants.
